[Heartened that she must have caught onto his meaning, Eleven nods and lets the thread of worry unwind. Such things would matter at some point, but that shouldn't mean they can't live in the present.
He shifts to lay back, content to watch the colors of the clouds change as the sun sets]
Mm.. who's to say it'll work, anyway? It was never a guarantee..
[Eleven shifts his head to look at her with a smile. It's nice, simply laying together like this. Peaceful, and with the clouds drifting lazily overhead, as if time itself as slowed]
I'm not either. I'm not fond of this world, but.. there are some things I like about it.
[ Humming happily Lily's hand lifted from his cheek to tug the front of his garment, leaning up to catch him in a kiss before he made her any more flustered than he already had. ]
[Half laughing, Eleven settles into the kiss more easily. It's starting to become something he doesn't have to worry about too much, and shifting his lips against hers is easier for it.
His eyes close as he takes a moment to relish the moment's sweetness, then breathes a sigh through his nose. Other considerations feel far away]
[ Letting her forehead rest against his briefly, she reached out, picking a flower and sticking it behind his ear before she leaned back against the ground, propping herself up on an elbow. ]
Are you sure you're not a secret agent of the city, tasked with changing my mind about wanting that beacon activated? You're doing a brilliant job.
[He grins, fingertips going back to touch the flower in his hair]
I wouldn't tell you if I were. [But he shakes his head, shrugging, the shifts to prop himself up on his side] Last I knew however, we were only hoping one of them could be convinced, but I haven't heard any political talk of it.
[He pauses, looking her over in the waning light]
..I might stay a short while longer even if it is.
I'm leaving the political part of it to the experts.
[ Like Moran.
Not expecting him to want to linger if a way home was presented, Lily's eyebrows rose in surprise, humming in consideration as she looked back down towards the grass. Pinching a tiny white clover bud free she rolled it in her palm thoughtfully. ]
You don't want to leave yet?
[ Tossing the bud at the ground it bounced like a rubber ball, ricocheting lightly around the space they lay in before rolling slowly to a halt. ]
[Sympathy splintered through his chest. He'd suspected there was a reason Lily didn't want to return to her world too quickly, but that there was a war waiting for her tore at his heart and pinched his expression]
..I'm sorry. I wish there was more kindness in this one.
Sort of like royalty, in a way - or at least the important families would like you to think. Purists believe that the children of non-magical people, or of a magical person and a regular person are inferior and shouldn't be entitled to the same quality of life they have.
[ The thought was as stupid now as it had been the first time she heard it, and she looked as though the idea were revolting. ]
Both my parents are non-magical, I've got a bit of an opinion on the matter, you might say.
There already is. One particularly horrible wizard has been gathering followers for years, adults, students at the school I went to. My friend.
[ Best not to dwell on that particularly nasty wound though. ]
They've been attacking people like me and their families for the last few years now. People go missing and turn up dead. It's said they mean to overthrow the Ministry and put a new order in its place, where magical kind is superior to all else.
[It's difficult to digest; his eyes shift in near-constant motion as confusion and vague horror take hold of his expression. That someone would decide themselves so superior to others as to kill them for the crime of their birth.. it's abhorrent to everything he holds sacred.
His tongue feels sour, and he looks at Lily with a helpless sadness]
[ The troubled look on her face grew a bit darker, watching the way his trying to work it out in his mind seemed to play across his expression in vivid detail. ]
He's an evil man, and nothing he says is true or right, but powerful terrible people believe him anyway.
[ Moving along with him as he pulled her closer she draped an arm around his shoulders, humming in appreciation. ]
You've got so much I don't think you could stop yourself from sharing if you tried.
[ That he was so obviously a kind and gentle sort of soul had made itself apparent within their first conversations. It was difficult to spend time with El and not feel better for it in some way. ]
[ Nudging his shoulder lightly Lily urged Eleven to lay back so she could settle against him, half draped with one arm over his chest and the other propped on the ground so she could rest her chin on her hand. ]
It's a bit romantic, isn't it? Getting to enjoy each other's glow even though it's not something we're meant to experience. It makes me feel rather lucky.
Mmn. [He smiles up at her. Goddess, how has he gotten so lucky as to enjoy her affection like this? Eleven idly loops a few strands of loose red hair around one of his fingers]
Wouldn't have been lucky if you weren't the one to find it, but I expect it fell out of my pocket while we were.. distracted.

It wasn't, was it?
[ With a sigh she stretched out next to him on the ground, settling herself against him comfortably. ]
Don't tell anyone, but I'm not in a rush to get back.

Like the plants, of course.
[ She lifted her hand and brushed his cheek with her fingers. ]
You and your rare flowers.

They're important to me.

It's the right thing to do, I just wish it wasn't over something as stupid as blood purity.

He understood it in a very loose sense- the way in which some noble families only ever wanted their heirs to marry other nobles, but-]
There's going to be a war over that?
